Doncaster Fashion Week will exhibit potential careers in fashion, film, games, and mixed reality when it arrives in the town on September 28, highlighting the countless opportunities available to creative young people. A group of local entrepreneurs have joined forces for the two-day event, which aims to showcase and demystify creative careers for young and savvy Doncaster residents.

The event will include the latest design work from Doncaster students, alongside cutting-edge rail design technology. It will also give attendees the chance to meet successful creatives from these industries. Saturday night is the culmination of the event; a catwalk experience showcasing sustainable fashion and textiles from all over the world.

Leah McMullan, the powerhouse behind the event, who says she wants to establish Doncaster as a hub of opportunity once again by attracting creatives from all over the UK to inspire the next generation said: “The Creative industries are defined as fashion, film, broadcast and games and by 2022 these sectors will employ 1.2 million people across the UK. The opportunity is huge across these sectors, with rewarding career paths that many people are unaware of.”

The production will exhibit six international fashion designers, over 20 emerging fashion designers, and more than 200 of Doncaster’s creative community.

Leah added: “I’m so pleased that so many people and local businesses have given their time and services for free to make this event happen. It just shows how much we can do together to help raise the profile of the town and attract future opportunities for the people of Doncaster. To make a change, we need to involve the next generation. It doesn’t matter what your background is, if you’re talented, you can achieve anything.”
