Three women and two men feature in the Queen’s birthday honours list, which was published today.

Samantha Siddall was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to the community in Edlington during Covid-19.

John McHale received the same honour for public service with Doncaster Council.

Bridget Clark, Michael Hart and Elaine Spencer were named Medalists of the Order of the British Empire for their services to the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Mayor Ros Jones, said: “I am delighted to read five Doncaster people have been honoured by The Queen in her birthday honours and I am sure that the people of Doncaster would like me to pass on congratulations.

“They have been recognised for their incredibly selfless work during the coronavirus pandemic and, in one instance, dedication to the public sector.

“I am delighted for all of them and I would like to thank them on behalf of the council and the people of Doncaster.”

Samantha Siddall has been involved with Edlington Community Organisation for over 18 years.

During the pandemic the team has supported people with food parcels, care packages and check-in services.Bridget Clark, a 71-year-old retired postmistress, was honoured for her work with the Finningley Community Spirit

She set up the group in an effort to reduce loneliness and isolation in her home town.
