It has been quite some time since the town centre has seen any art-based activity but that is about to change as at the Corn Exchange is hosting a ‘Meet the Makers’ event on Friday, September 4.
There will also be a collection of artists showing work that they have created during the lockdown.
She said: “I’m really excited.
“It’s been a long time since there has been anything like this.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting with other creatives in the town.”
Kim says it has been hard for the art community to get together during the pandemic as they have not had the safe space required.
Kim wants to encourage people to come to this event and to support Doncaster artists as she feels that we cannot return to normal until the arts sector is back up and running.
“Museums and galleries have been closed and self-employed artists have has a really hard six months,” she continued.
“We have been reliant on moving our art online which has been fine but it’s just not the same as doing it in person.”
Other Doncaster artists who will be attending the event are Andy Hollinghurst an oil painter and Georgie Lamburt who works in steampunk embroidery.
The event will take place between 3 and 8pm and there will be a free drink on arrival.
