Doncaster is host to an international exhibition centred around diversity

The International diversity exhibition opened virtually to the general public on October 12.

What would have been an in person show has moved online due to Covid-19.

This exhibition is named “Celebrating our strength in our diversity” and is showcasing art from 15 counties.

Chinwe Russell, the exhibition’s curator from Town Moor has helped to organise this event in Doncaster.

She said: “I have often wondered at the diversity of humanity.

“What makes us who we are and what we are, the nations, the cultures, and the people all around the world.

“All different, yet the same.

“I have often marveled at how similar we are, and how strong we become when we leave our differences behind.

“What keeps us together is diversity itself.

"What attracts us to each other is our difference, it pushes us to engage and to discover one another.

"Our differences are what makes us unique, we should celebrate them.”

There have been 300 entries from countries such as the USA, Portugal, Nigeria, Mexico, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Egypt, Russia and several others.

It includes paintings, illustrations, sculptures and other artistic mediums.

Out of the 300 hundred submissions, a selection of artists were longlisted for the public vote where people can chose their favourite 30 artworks which will proceed to the final stage.

Chinwe said: “The diversity of humanity makes us strong, we should embrace it.

“And so I invite you once again to celebrate with us the diversity that is life itself in our new online exhibition.

“Artists around the world will come together as one, to celebrate that which makes us who we are.

"That which unites us, that which keeps us together.

"Join us as we celebrate our strengths in our diversity.”

The 30 finalists will pass before a panel of judges composed of Leah McMullen,Terry Chipp, Jenny Dewsnapp and Chinwe Russell.

The final three will receive cash prizes of £500, £300, and £200 respectively.
