A Doncaster star of the Great British Bake Off has given her backing to a nationwide baking contest - where the lucky winner will win a year's supply of free cake.

Val Stones, who appeared on the hit show back in 2016, has been selected as one of the judges in the contest organised by Yorkshire-based Bottled Baking Co.

The 'Make a Mix Campaign' will see a child’s drawn bottle design turned into a real life mix.

The winning mix will be created in real life and sold on the website, and the winning child will also receive a year’s supply of Bottled Baking Co, alongside a £150 toy voucher.

Although the competition is aimed towards primary school children, little ones are also welcome to enter and will be considered for judging.

Those wanting to take part can do so by downloading a bottle template or simply by drawing their own bottle from scratch.

All entries will be judged by Val, UK children’s cookery author, Annabel Karmel and Masterchef star Michele Rodriguez-Wise who together, will choose their favourite mix and therefore the winner of the competition.

The winning mix will be manufactured into a real bottle at Bottled Baking Co. HQ in Leeds, where the winner will be invited to see their drawing come to life.

Deadline for entries is 9am on Friday 28 October, meaning there’ll be plenty of time for children to get creative over the half term break.

The list of finalists will be announced on Thursday 3 November and then the winner a week later on Thursday 10 November.
