A Doncaster engineer tested his musical knowledge on BBC Radio 2’s popular PopMaster quiz this morning.

Lee Wilford, who lives in Barnsley, but works in Doncaster for a small engineering firm, was one of the two contestants on Ken Bruce’s morning show where contenders go head to head, tackling ten music questions in a bid to win prizes.

But there was to be no victory for the dad of two who managed to score 18 points – losing out to fellow contestant Mick Aves from Colchester, who racked up a score of 27 points.

And instead of being one year out on the infamous ‘guess the year’ question, Lee was actually ten years out, guessing that Oasis classic Don’t Look Back In Anger was released in 1986 rather than 1996.

The keen dog walker, gardener and golfer who is involved with Silkstone Cricket Club and supports Sheffield United, collected a One Year Out t-shirt for his efforts.
