Doncaster councillors help fund panto tickets for children at Cast
Hundreds of children across Doncaster have been shouting “he’s behind you!” this Christmas, thanks to support from City of Doncaster councillors who have helped fund tickets to Cast’s production of Cinderella.
Through contributions from their ward members' budgets, councillors from across the political parties pooled funds to provide 260 pantomime tickets for local children and families who might otherwise have missed out on a festive trip to the theatre.
Nicola Doyle, Community Engagement Manager at Cast, said: "We are incredibly grateful to our local councillors for their generous support.
"This funding has enabled us to provide 260 pantomime tickets to children and families who would benefit most, ensuring they can experience the magic of Cinderella at Cast.

"Access to the arts can make a real difference, and this support has helped us create joyful, memorable moments for families across Doncaster."
Councillors from across political parties pooled money from their ward members budgets to enable young people to experience the panto.
Each councillor has a budget of £3,000 per year to allocate to local charities, community groups and projects aligned to the Council’s priorities.
Councillor Rob Dennis, Labour Councillor for Town Ward, said: "To know that 260 children have been able to attend the pantomime this year due to our collective effort is really heartwarming.
"Some of the children have disabilities, are young carers or use family support services, which can be seen as barriers to accessing the arts. Promoting the city’s cultural events is one of the Council’s priorities and I’m delighted that so many councillors were able to donate some of their ward members budget this Christmas."
