Doncaster choir for people that can't sing to return after lockdown

After closing its doors six months ago and despite social distancing still being in place, Doncaster Tuneless Choir is opening its doors once more – but only to 20 of its 100 members on September 9.

Last week, the Government announced that singing indoors is allowed to start again, with social distancing in place.

The choir`s home at the White Church in Balby can hold 100 people but after a risk assessment this has been reduced down to only 20.

Choir leader Becky Power said: “It won’t be like it used to be as safety comes first but we still have all the ingredients for a fun filled choir session and I’m looking forward to welcoming old and new members”

Although the doors have been closed the choir have still been together online and more recently at an outdoor picnic at Cusworth.

They also had a special evening online at the start of lockdown when they were told they had won two Pride Of Balby Awards from the Balby And Hexthorpe Community Engagement Society funded by Doncaster Council.

Members will now have to book and pre pay online on a first come first served basis to avoid queing and money handling

Becky, who has two small children, has also given up her career in logistics to take on the choir full time.
