First 4 Care is a residential care home provider which was set up by Managing Director Carol Dodds in 2008.

Throughout the pandemic, the 27 staff have been going above and beyond to help the children and young adults in their care.

“The staff have been amazing,” said Carol.

“We have had instances of Covid-19 in children and they have been understandably nervous to go into work.

“It has been challenging but they have been so loyal and they put the children's safety above all else.

“For these children who don’t have anyone but us it’s so important that we are there for them through the virus.”

From the very beginning of lockdown Carol has given her staff a bonus to show appreciation of the extra work they are doing.

She said: “Some of them are doing days and weeks at a time.

“Not seeing their families and I wanted to say thank you to them for doing so.”

The idea for the video came from seeing a similar one made by Doncaster airport staff who are currently not able to work.

“None of us can see each other at the moment so the video was a way to see people that we haven’t for weeks,” she said.

“And it’s for the kids too - we did it to the song ‘We are family’ because we are their family.”

The video includes staff members dancing around their homes in costumes and having fun.

One member of staff said that she cried when she first watched the video as she was overcome with emotion seeing the staff members again.

First 4 Care work with children and young people who need extra support - they have homes in Bentley, Burgh Wallis, and Stainforth.

They have plans to expand the business in the near future.
