Big-hearted Doncaster locals come to rescue of autistic teen after bag of toy planes lost

Kind-hearted Doncaster people have come to the rescue of an autistic teenager after a bag of his beloved toy planes went missing.

13-year-old Lucas Button or Armthorpe was left distraught after the plastic bag full of die cast models of aircraft disappeared.

But after mum Kimmie shared the appeal for the models on Facebook, scores of people got in touch to offer replacement toys and other aircraft related materials.

She said: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who shared the post regarding the lost bag of planes.

“Unfortunately we have not yet found the bag but the responses have been absolutely overwhelming.

"The kindness and generosity of the people in Doncaster has warmed my heart and made our son so incredibly happy. People have donated their planes flight charts and books and it has brought a huge smile to his face.”

She added: “The kindness and generosity of people has honestly made me cry.

“People have offered their model planes to our lad to restart his collection again .

“I don’t think we will find the bag, but with all this kindness it has made him so much less sad.

“Anyone who knows Lucas knows that Lucas is autistic and he loves his airplanes more than life itself. He takes them absolutely everywhere, so they could literally be anywhere.”
