Pensioner dies four days after collision in Doncaster

A pensioner in a car which overturned in Doncaster has died.

The woman, aged 70 and from Doncaster, was in a vehicle being driven by a 48-year-old woman which overturned in Ruddle Lane, Micklebring.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 2.45pm last Saturday and South Yorkshire Police today revealed that the OAP had since died.

She was taken to hospital but died on Wednesday.

The driver of the blue Land Rover escaped with minor injuries.

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from witnesses.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are asking if you saw a collision involving a blue Land Rover Discovery in the Micklebring area on Saturday, February 6.

“At about 2.45pm, it was reported that the car had overturned in Ruddle Lane. No other cars were involved in the incident.

“The driver of the car, a 48-year-old woman from Doncaster, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She has since been discharged.

“A 70-year-old woman, also from Doncaster, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital following the incident but sadly died on Wednesday.

“The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“Officers investigating the incident are asking anyone with information to get in touch.

“Did you see what happened? Did you see the car prior to the incident?”
