Paedophile jailed for 16 years for sexually assaulting young girls in Doncaster

A man has been jailed for 16 years for sexually abusing young girls in Doncaster

Peter Eric Ashwell, aged 33, of Beech Road, Skellow, was sentenced after being found guilty of multiple child sex offences at an earlier hearing.

He was convicted of two counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child.

The charges relate to two girls from the Doncaster area.

They came forward in October last year to report the abuse.

Detective Constable Laura Batterham said: “The significant sentence handed to Ashwell reflects the gravity of his despicable crimes.

“He continued to deny his guilt, forcing his victims through the ordeal of their horrific abuse being relived and retold to the courts.

“The victims, who are both under 13, have been incredibly brave throughout the investigation and I hope yesterday’s result helps them in some small way to move forward, knowing that this man can harm them no more.”
