Owston Ferry couple celebrate diamond wedding

Today sees Isle couple Margaret and Ian Axe celebrate their diamong wedding anniversary.

Margaret, 81, is originally from Crowle and Ian, 83, owns the poultry farm in Owston Ferry were they still live on Station Road.

The couple were married at Ealand Methodist Church and they have three children, Andrea, Nigel and Adrian; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Granddaughter Stevie Brown said: “My grandfather is a world renowned pigeon breeder and racer, my grandmother had a stall at Doncaster market for a lot of years.”

Ian has also had a long association with the Isle of Axholme Billiards League.

To celebrate their 60 years wedded bliss the family are all set to enjoy a party on Saturday at the Ingleby Arms in Amcotts.
