I notice that, Covid permitting, there is another Exotic Animal Show at the Racecourse at the end of this month.

Back in 2012 these shows were banned from Council premises by Mayor Davies but were picked up by the Racecourse.

These Exotic animals are not pets. A home cannot replicate their natural habitat. In drastically restricting their space we are being cruel.

We might like owning them but no matter what we do we cannot be kind. A home, is for them, a place of cruelty.

Many owners can find that as they become larger they become difficult.

Often they stave or suffer from loneliness or stress They are are often released into the wild where they fall victim to predators. Many of these animals die as they are transported around the world in their millions. Finally they can be disease carriers, which in these days of a world pandemic, should warn us of how dangerous they can be.

Your readers should certainly think twice before considering having such animals in their homes and really not visit the Racecourse on ‘Show’ days
