New speed limits for Isle roads

Roads on which motorists must now lower their speed include The Nooking, Haxey, where the limit is now down to 50mph on a short section of the road to maintain consistency with the A161.

Between Epworth and Low Burnham the speed limit is also lowered to 50mph in line with surrounding roads, and on the controversial Doncaster Road at Westwoodside, traffic must now stick to 30mph.

Other roads that will have speed limits changed in the coming weeks are:

A161, Graizelound – 30mph speed limit extended to cover the crossroads. The remaining section of this road between the crossroads and the boundary with Nottinghamshire will be lowered to 50mph,

B1206 Barton Road, Wrawby – reduced from 40mph to 30mph,

Ermine Street between Dawes Lane and Carrside Farm entrance – new 40 mph speed limit,

Between the crossroads on the A18 along the B1207 to Broughton and to Scawby – lowered to 50 mph,

B1430 from Burton-upon-Stather along Burton Road, Thealby Lane to A1077 – lowered to 50 mph,

B1206 New Holland Road approach into Barrow from New Holland - 30mph limit shortened and a new 40mph limit provided to protect outlying properties and the Goxhill junction.

Factors are taken into account when revised speed limits are proposed including accident statistics, traffic speeds, traffic volumes and the local environment.

The council consulted town and parish councils, the emergency services, motoring organisations, bus and haulage companies and others during the review.

Coun Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “We still have a number of speed limits to introduce throughout North Lincolnshire as part of our on-going speed limit review and in line with national guidance. This review highlighted that there was a need for changes to be made to certain speed limits to ensure that the roads are safe.”
