Doncaster’s Baroness Winterton has welcomed new Prime Minister Andy Burnham to Downing Street.
The former Doncaster Central MP was among the well-wishers welcoming the new PM and his wife Marie-France van Heel as they arrived this lunchtime to replace outgoing PM Sir Keir Starmer.
Baroness Winterton, a former deputy speaker of the House of Commons, was seen embracing the smiling couple ahead of Mr Burnham’s first speech as PM.
Serving as Doncaster Central MP from the 1997 General Election before announcing her retirement ahead of the 2024 General Election, she now sits in the House of Lords.
