Coun John Briggs, cabinet member for Assets, Culture and Housing at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a great opportunity for local people to come and see what their new sports centre will look like. This is a huge investment of £4.5m and we need to ensure we get it right and that we deliver what local people want – those who will use the sports centre.”

He continued: “It is not every day we get opportunities like these and I would urge people to come and have a look and tell us what they think. We have involved and will continue to involve the local community – after all, it is their facility.”

Joe Sellars, Principal at Axholme Academy, said: “I do hope we get a good turn out from our community to come and see the plans that have been drawn up for the sports centre that will be a great boost for the locality.

“We want members of the public to have significant use of the facilities both during and after the school day and, of course during weekends and holidays. People will be able to access sport and leisure facilities without the expense and time needed to travel to other centres.”
