New figures show number of coronavirus infections is rising in Doncaster

The current rate of new cases in the borough is 2.6 per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 30 – up from 1.6 on the previous week.
There have been eight new cases, compared to five for the seven days to July 23.

Hide AdThe figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories – pillar one of the Government's testing programme - and in the wider community (pillar two).
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
Data for the most recent three days (July 31-August 2) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.
There have been more than 250 deaths from coronavirus in Doncaster since the start of the pandemic.

Hide AdRichard Parker, Chief Executive of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “The challenges of Covid-19 are still very much with us, and the disease hasn’t gone away.
“Our biggest risk now, within the community and as an organisation, is complacency.
Over the past few months, we have all worked incredibly hard to respond to the demands presented by this illness, and the people of Doncaster and Bassetlaw have done a fantastic job and made so many sacrifices in keeping the transmission rates low.
Currently, as an area we are seeing minimal additional cases of Covid-19 and we are in the lower risk category regionally. Let’s try to keep it that way for as long as we possibly can.”
