Matt Ellis put the result beyond doubt three minutes later with his second goal in successive games.

The victory saw Rossington climb to 17th in Division One with a five-point cushion over the bottom two.

This weekend Lee Holmes’ side have the opportunity to put further daylight between themselves and the relegation places when they visit rock bottom Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Lincoln are 11 points adrift at the foot of the table and look certain to fill one of the two relegation berths.

Indeed the hosts have lost their last 22 league games, picking up just four points in 30 league outings, one of which came in a 1-1 draw against Rossington at the end of August.
