Sheffield Wednesday star Barry Bannan has been left red-faced after his mum revealed what her pet name for him was growing up.

The Wednesday midfielder was forced to admit on video that his pet name growing up was "Barry Bot Bot" in front of his teammate Steven Fletcher.

Bannan said: "I used to have a bottle of milk and she tried to get it off me as I was going to high school and I still used to drink it."

Sheffield Wednesday stars Bannan and Fletcher were forced open up on their naughtiest and most embarrassing childhood memories - as revealed by their mums.

As part of a Mother's Day special, Vauxhall asked the pair's mums to reveal stories about their son's growing up.

The Scottish stars were then forced to guess what their mums said when asked by their Wednesday teammate.

Striker Fletcher kicked things off by correctly guessing that the naughtiest thing he did as a child was embarrassing his mum in front of the neighbours.

He said: "The neighbour came in and my mum would say something about her before she came in and I would repeat it."

Fletcher then went on to reveal his worst habit was that he would "sniff absolutely everything."

"If I used to eat anything or if it was on my hands or anything I would basically sniff it first just to make sure it's alright," Fletcher admitted.

Former Celtic youth team player Bannan then took a dig at fierce rivals Rangers by explaining his best junior football moment was scoring seven goals against them.

He said: "I'll always remember this, if not for scoring the goals but one of the Rangers players had done a bad foul on me.

"I've looked up from on the floor and my mum was on the pitch chasing the boy that had kicked me. That tells you everything you need to know about my mum really."
