MP's delight as overgrown path near Doncaster supermarket cleared

The Doncaster North MP was contacted with complaints from residents

A Doncaster MP has spoken of his delight after an overgrown path near a city supermarket was cleared following complaints from residents, calling it “a local win.”

Doncaster North Labour MP Ed Miliband praised the clearance near to the Morrisons store off York Road.

He said: “The land behind Morrisons is clear again.

“Since 2025, residents have been telling me that the land in Bentley had become badly overgrown, making the path from Fisher Terrace to the supermarket difficult and unsafe to use.

“After a lot of work from myself and my team, the land was finally cleared back in February 2026.

“Sadly, without a proper maintenance plan in place, it grew back over the summer, and the path became obscured by brambles and nettles again.

“One resident with a sight impairment contacted me to speak of her difficulties with the land, but to also relay how thankful she was for Morrisons' staff, who have been helping her navigate the path safely past a fallen tree and the overgrowth.

“After more calls and emails, I'm pleased to say the clearance has now been carried out.

“The team responsible locally have assured me that they'll be recommending a proper long-term maintenance plan to Morrisons going forward.

“Thank you to everyone on Grove Avenue and Fisher Terrace who flagged this issue - it's exactly this kind of persistence that gets things fixed.

“If you have any local issues you would like my team and I to investigate, please email me at [email protected] and I will do what I can to help.”
