The northbound A1M was blocked last night between Junction 38 at Redhouse and 39 at Barnsale Bar, near Doncaster.

South Yorkshire firefighters were deployed to the blaze to help neighbouring crews in West Yorkshire.

This morning, Highways England said the road remains closed.

Motorists are facing delays on the northbound A1M this morning following a lorry fire between Junction 38 for Redhouse and 39 for Barnsdale Bar

“Due to the complex nature of this incident involving multiple agencies, the full closure will remain in place for some time.

“Please consider the M1 and M18 for alternative routes.

“The recovery of this vehicle and is load will take at least four hours then the road will need to be assessed as it is likely to need resurfacing before reopening. Expect significant delays through the morning.

“Early assessments suggest that this will be protracted due to the damage to the vehicle with the road likely to remain closed through the day.”
