Misterton couple's festive fundraising for First Responders team

Two kind hearted local residents have yet again raised money for the local Five Villages First Responder team by lighting up their home with hundreds of festive lights over the Christmas period.

Sid and Sylvia Burgess of Grove Park, Misterton, decorate the outside of their home and front garden every year and collect donations for a nominated charity or group.

Again this year they chose to donate the proceeds to the voluntary Five Villages First Responder group based in Misterton.

The responder group covers Misterton, West Stockwith, Beckingham, Walkeringham, Gringley on the Hill and surrounding villages and works in partnership with East Midlands Ambulance Service. They can give care to patients suffering from medical emergency following a 999 call until the arrival of the ambulance. The group relies on fundraising and donations to pay for equipment and running costs.

Co-ordinator Martyn Johnson said: “We are hugely grateful to Sid and Sylvia for their hard work and for choosing the proceeds of their festive fund raising to be donated to us again this year. The grand total was an amazing amount of £351.50, and we are very grateful to them both for their ongoing support and to all those who visited the lights and donated.”
