Over 80 people attended the gathering at San Pietro and each meal donated £5 to the charity which cares for hundreds of people every year with life-limiting illnesses.

Over four years the hospice has held social lunches, they have raised well over £5,000 and it has grown in popularity ever since.

Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Helen Rowson, said: “This occasion was special to me as it was my 50th engagement as mayor and what a great way to celebrate it by raising so much money.

“The lunch was a fantastic way to raise money for such a worthy charitable cause as most people have been touched by it one way or another. Every charity is worthy but you know where your money goes to Lindsey Lodge Hospice and it is our local facility to support.

“When I visited the hospice it was such a lovely place and it is a credit to all those who work there and support it.”

Community fundraising co-ordinator for Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Anne Millett, said she was “overwhelmed” with the support they received.
