Man in hospital with life threatening injuries as woman arrested after Doncaster assault

A man is in a serious condition in hospital with life-threatening injuries and a woman has been arrested following an assault which saw a Doncaster street sealed off by police.

Officers were called at 11.54am yesterday (17 July) to Dunscroft in Doncaster following reports of an assault, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

A statement said: “It is reported that a 47-year-old man was attacked near the junction of Abbey Road and Station Road.

“The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and he remains there in a serious condition.

“A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody at this time.

“There are currently two scenes in place while officers carry out further enquiries.

“One cordon remains in place at the location of the alleged assault, with another scene in place on York Road, near the junction with Lichfield Road.”

Local residents reported a heavy police presence in Dunscroft yesterday, with a police cordon in place outside shops on Abbey Road.

Eyewitnesses also reported forensics officers at the scene throughout the day.
