The incident is the third at the Royal Indiahhh restaurant on Swinton Road, Mexborough, in the last month.Windows were smashed, tables and chairs broken and taps left on so that the carpet was soaked. Cutlery, candle-holders and glasses were strewn over the floor.Owner Amardeep Singh said: "They turned the gas on and lit a candelabra so that the place would blow up."Fortunately, staff always turn off the gas supply overnight as a safety precaution. But Mr Singh said more than 100,000 in damage had been caused."Health officials told us the restaurant should not be opened for at least eight to 12 weeks because the floorboards must be changed," Mr Singh said.Working at the restaurant has become a "living hell" for its nine full-timestaff, he added.The Royal Indiahhh had been open three-and-a-half years without any trouble - until earlier this month.Mr Singh, who said that staff had been subject to a series of incidents of racial abuse and threats, is now considering whether to re-open the business.Police arrived on Sunday morning following calls to say that water was leaking everywhere.A police spokesman said he could not say whether the incidents were connected but they were being treated as racially motivated.Anybody with information about the latest attack should call: (0114) 220 2020.* Three men have been charged in connection with the second incident and are due to appear in court next month.CAPTION: Clearing up operation...chef Gurnam Singh pictured after the latest attackat a Mexborough Indian restaurant.
