Lee, 30, of Gawber Road, Barnsley, submitted his composition for a string orchestra including violins, violas, cellos and contrabass. Lee named his piece ‘La Malizia’, meaning ‘malice’ in Italian. It was inspired by Russian composer Tchaikovsky, along with Lee’s love for dance music.

The third year student at University College, Barnsley, said: “Mytutor Susan Donnelly encouraged me to enter the competition. I’m really excited to represent the UK in the Ukraine in February.”
