Despite an exhaustive search and media appeal to find the former Linda Gray of Westfield Road, Balby, the women have had no response to their plea.

They were all part of the 1967 year group, who were at the former Chelsea College of Physical Education in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Incredibly, the women have managed to find 167 of a total 168 students from their year - Linda remains the only missing part of the jigsaw.

Spokeswoman for the students’ group, Jan Oswick, said: “It’s just unbearably frustrating. In case the person who holds the clue does not do email, I am willing to make my telephone number public.”

Anyone who thinks they might know where the former Linda Gray is, or has any news of where she went post-college, is asked to call Jan on 01273 487851.

The women are planning a celebratory fiftieth anniversary reunion weekend in Eastbourne in June and have spent months tracking everyone down. Ex-students are attending the bash from as far as America, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
