Isle students welcome at UTC event

Find out more about studying at the new Humber UTC at a recruitment and information event on Monday, March 30 at The Pods in Scunthorpe.

This event from 3pm to 4.30pm is for young people interested in attending the UTC, to give insight into why they should choose this facility over others.

Humber UTC is designed to be a school with a difference. Students will work on real projects designed and delivered by top companies in the Humber region. It will provide students with the skills, aspirations and expectations to meet employers’ future needs.

The recruitment event is a great opportunity for young people to find out information and meet the UTC’s partner employers. They include:

* Tata Steel


* University of Hull

* Clugstons

* BAE Systems

* Online Design

* Smart Winds

* Able UK

These employers will work closely with students on current projects.

The ‘Why choose the Humber UTC?’ event follows on from others that have been extremely successful.

There will be guest speakers from the partner employers who will discuss what their companies do and how they will work with students.

Spaces are still available for young people aged 14 to 19 to apply to the Humber UTC after admission numbers were extended.

On successful completion of studies at the Humber UTC, students will be offered a guaranteed job interview with regional employers and a conditional offer at the University of Hull.

The idea of being able to contextualise what will be taught in the classroom with real life scenarios in the world of work seemed to appeal to the students.
