Iconic Doncaster dining venue set to re-open under new ownership

Woods Tea Rooms, one of Doncaster’s most popular restaurants, closed its doors in March, ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.
Now it is understood that Doncaster-based food firm Anna’s Catering have taken charge of the tea rooms with the venue set to bounce back later this year with new owners and a new menu.

Hide AdEarlier this year customers were left reeling with shock after the venue announced its closure after 28 years.
The Facebook post, written in March, said: “Sadly we closed yesterday after twenty eight years of our fabulous team making and serving top quality home made food under the leadership of the amazing Tracy Woods who worked here all that time.
“Thank you to all our customers and people over the years for making this a Doncaster institution
“See you again some day.”
The venue has been famed for many years for its genteel atmosphere and olde worlde afternoon teas, cakes and sandwiches, similar to the world famous Betty’s tea rooms in Harrogate and York.

Hide AdUpset customers expressed their sadness at the closure, which came just days ahead of the nationwide shutdown of pubs, restaurants, cafes and other businesses because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pubs and restaurants across England were allowed to re-open their doors again last Saturday, although some remain closed and Doncaster saw a slow start after trading restarted.
