Doncaster Rovers Belles' miserable start to the season continued as they sank to a 6-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town Ladies.

Huddersfield took the lead after 19 minutes after sloppy defending allowed Katie Nutter to steal in and score.

There were few bright spots for Doncaster, who dropped far too deep too often and invited Huddersfield onto them with alarming frequency.

The one real positive came through Ashleigh Edwards' equaliser on 26 minutes, with the midfielder smashing a 25-yarder into the far top corner for the Belles' first league goal of the season.

Nadia Khan was also a positive for Zoey Shaw's side, with the forward working tirelessly both up front and on the wing despite a lack of service.

But that equaliser aside, there was little solace for the Belles from the moment Kate Mallin put Huddersfield ahead just six minutes after Edwards' equaliser.

The Belles hung on until the break, but despite an initially improved performance after the interval found themselves 3-1 down as Kerry Hope scored.

Heads dropped once and for all after Mallin got her second on 78 minutes, and just four minutes later she completed her hat trick.

Shauna Legge rounded off the scoring in the 87th minute to leave the Belles rooted to the bottom of the FA WNL Northern table.
