Hockey: Doncaster finish fourth in Conference North

Doncaster's men went down 2-1 at home to champions Loughborough Students in their final Conference North fixture but finished a very respectable fourth in the final standings.

The students started the game in assured fashion and went ahead mid-way through the first half courtesy of Tom Atkinson.

Loughborough continued to create several good openings in the second half but Doncaster’s goalkeeper Ash Watson was in inspired form.

With six minutes remaining Doncaster’s Dan West started and finished a move to equalise.

However, the visitors elected to take their keeper off for an extra outfield player and Tom Bean scored the winner in the dying moments.

n Doncaster’s ladies rounded their season off by beating newly-crowned Northern Premier Division champions Timperley 5-0.

n Doncaster’s under 10 and under 12 boys have both been crowned Yorkshire champions.

Both teams defeated Sheffield Hallam in their respective finals.
