A historic Doncaster hotel favoured by the stars has re-opened – but only for essential workers.

The Crown Hotel at Bawtry, which has welcomed a number of celebrity guests over the years, re-opened to guests on Monday.

But the Market Place hotel is not accepting leisure stays.

A statement said: “Our bedrooms are reopening for essential workers.

“We are offering a grab and go breakfast and a limited bar service. No cash will be accepted in the hotel and we will be following strict Covid-19 secure guidelines.

The hotel has played host to a number of celebrity guests including comic Billy Connolly, singer Ronan Keating, the cast of Still Open All Hours and a string of other TV and music star names, as well as personalities from the world of racing over the years.

The four star hotel is a former 18th century coaching inn.
