Currently second in the table, Thorne are on track for promotion – and maybe even the title – if they can keep up their recent good form.

They led 17-5 at half time thanks to tries from No 8 Ryan Pilley and two from prop Aden Smith, while centre Rob Brown kicked one conversion.

After half time they extended their lead to 27-5 thanks to tries from prop Andy Ellis and centre Luke Marsden, before flanker Rob Moffatt’s 68th minute try was converted by Brown as Thorne went 34-10 up.

There was no let-up for Leeds Medics, with replacement winger Dean Roberts scoring with ten minutes to go and then Marsden added a second in the final minute which Brown converted.

Thorne’s next game is a potentially title-deciding trip to leaders Wetherby on Saturday, April 2.

The Doncaster club currently trail the unbeaten table-toppers by 15 points but have two games in hand on them.
