Queues built up outside shops – with bargain hunters snaking around the block at Primark in the Market Place.
Pub beer gardens were busy as drinkers downed their first pints in months and town centre streets were bustling with shoppers as non essential stores re-opened for the first time since January.
Barbers and beauty salons also had queueing customers – although not all businesses have re-opened.
