The road was closed for several hours following the crash

Four people have been injured - two seriously - following a three car collision which closed a major Doncaster road for several hours.

Emergency services were called to the A638 at Redhouse yesterday lunchtime - and police are now seeking witnesses to the incident.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Following a serious collision in Doncaster, we’re urging witnesses and those with dashcam footage to get in touch.

“Yesterday, 4 September, at 12.48pm, emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving three vehicles on the A638 Wakefield Road.

“Initial enquiries have led officers to believe that a blue Volvo Estate has been travelling along the road when it has collided with a beige Audi A6 and a blue Ford Galaxy.

“The driver of the Volvo, a man aged 62 and his passenger, a 55-year-old woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver of the Audi and Ford both also suffered injuries that are not believed to life threatening or life altering.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and is yet to speak to officers, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision.

“If you believe you can help please get in touch quoting incident number 357 of 4 September 2026.”

The incident caused serious tailbacks in the area, with delays building up on the nearby A1(M).
