Midfielder Dave Mulligan, who spent three years at Rovers between 2004-06, was stunned when he turned up at the hospital on the other side of the globe - only to come face to face with a vehicle in the car park sporting a number plate tribute to Rovers.

The 34-year-old New Zealand international, who now lives in the country, shared his surprise, posting a photo of himself posing with the Jeep featuring the DRFC Rovers Till I Die plate as he arrived at the hospital shortly before his wife Michelle gave birth.

Just a few hours after the snap was taken, Mulligan welcomed daughter Eden-Lily into the world.

Liverpool-born Mulligan, who scored four goals in 77 appearances for Rovers, began his career at Barnsley and later joined Scunthorpe after his spell at Doncaster.

Following a few loan spells in England, he then turned his attentions to New Zealand football and is now a coach and was a member of the All Whites team at the 2010 World Cup although he did not feature during the competition.
