Former Doncaster Rovers player sets up YouTube channel to showcase skills after end of season release

Thorne-born James Baxendale was among 11 players shown the door by League Two Mansfield Town at the end of the season - and the 24-year-old midfielder has compiled a collection of his goals, skills and career statistics on the video sharing website as he looks for a new club.

Announcing the news on Twitter, he wrote: "Put together a YouTube channel with a few videos of me playing soccer for your viewing pleasure/displeasure."

The channel contains several videos of the player in action and a number of Mansfield fans were quick to show their support for Baxendale, who was with Rovers between 2011-12.

Stags fan @owen_mtfc tweeted: "Quit football to become a YouTuber?;) nah all the best mate, shame it didn't work out."

Steve Giles‏ added: Good luck wherever you move onto. Thanks for your efforts in a Stags shirt," while Mick Hannant‏ posted: "All the best for the future. Thanks for your efforts whilst with The Stags."

Coming through the youth set-up at Leeds, he failed to win a professional contract at Elland Road and joined Rovers in 2011 before spells at non-league Buxton and Hereford.

He later joined Walsall where he scored eight goals in 122 appearances before signing for Mansfield in January 2016.

Mansfield boss Steve Evans announced that Baxendale's contract wasn't to be renewed after the Stags failed in their bid to reach the League Two play-offs.
