The blaze, which could continue for days due to high peat levels in the land, began on Sunday night (May 17).
The specialist helicopter will be dropping large amounts of water from designated lakes on to the moors.
South Yorkshire Fore and Rescue have warned people not to go out onto the moors to look at the fires.
