Every flood warning and road closure still in place in Doncaster

Communities in Doncaster are continuing to cope with the devastating floods that first hit the borough on November 7, following a torrential downpour of rain that saw one months’s worth of rain fall in just 24 hours.

In a forecast of the flooding risk in England and Wales, the Environment Agency (EA) said: "River flooding is expected to continue in the Lower River Don washlands area in South Yorkshire through to at least Tuesday, where properties will continue to flood and there will be continued travel disruption."

Four flood warnings and 22 road closures are in place in Doncaster this morning.

The flood warnings currently in place in Doncaster are:

- Ea Beck at Thorpe Marsh and Almholme

- River Don at Fishlake

- River Don at Stainforth

- River Don at Thorpe in Balne

There are also four flood alerts in place in the Doncaster area. They are:

- Ea Beck catchment

- Lower River Don catchment

- River Went catchment

- Tidal River Ouse, Don and the Dutch River catchment

The road closures currently in place in Doncaster are:

- Pastures Roads - Mexborough (Between Pastures Lodge and Melton Road)

- A631 Gainsborough Road - Bawtry

- Fordstead Lane - Arksey

- Thorpe Bank - Barnby Dun

- Ferry Boat Lane - Old Denaby

- High Common Lane - Austerfield (Closed due to roadworks)

- Trundle Lane - Fishlake

- Far Bank Lane - Fishlake

- Plumtree Hill Road - Fishlake

- Fishlake Nab - Fishlake

- Hushells Lane - Fosterhouses

- Westfield Road - Fishlake

- Ings Road - Bentley

- Hunt Lane - Bentley

- Yarborough Terrace - Bentley

- Cromwell Rd - Bentley

- Conyers Rd - Bentley

- Frank Road - Bentley

- Marsh Road - Bentley

- Wrightson Terrace - Bentley

- A60 Doncaster Road - Wadworth / Tickhill

Doncaster Council has residents to bear in mind that ‘if a road is closed, it’s closed for a reason’

“For your safety we urge drivers not to attempt to drive through flood water and temporary road closures,” the council said.

The EA for Yorkshire and the North East said there is still lots of flood water in the region, and a pumping operation is under way to reduce water levels.

In an online message, Martin Christmas of the EA, said: "We are starting to think about moving from emergency rescue response into recovery and that means looking at our flood warnings and then starting to think about all the inspections we need to do to look at potential repairs for banks and flood assets based on the loading they have received from the water in the last week.

"We have still got tens of people out there in the field carrying on with pumping activity trying to get levels at Fishlake reduced and we are also keeping an eye on East Yorkshire as well."

The Met Office said its Sheffield weather station has recorded its wettest ever autumn.

It tweeted: "With 15 days still to go, the site has already recorded 427.6 mm of #rain. The previous record was set in 2000 with 425.2 mm of rain falling between September 1 and November 30 that year."
