Earlier that morning thieves used a fork lift truck to ram raid a cash machine in Station Road in Epworth.

Hide AdThe incident saw extensive damage caused to the building, which also houses the Sunspot beauty salon.
Humberside Police were called out to the scene at 3.12am to discover the abandoned fork lift vehicle, and that the thieves had made off from the scene with the ATM.

Police are also investigating the possible link of a very similar incident which took place in the village of Blyth in the early hours of December 9 when a stolen heavy duty digger was used in a raid on a cash point.
The offenders escaped with a safe in a Toyota Hilux after the thieves hit the High Street ATM at around 3.30am.

Hide AdThe excavation vehicle and cash machine were left abandoned at the scene.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “At this stage it is too early to say whether this incident is related to any other similar incident in neighbouring areas, however police enquiries are ongoing and liaison with other forces is a routine consideration in an enquiry of this nature.”
