Epworth-based firm secures £1.2m Battersea Power Station deal

The former electrical power station, which ceased operations in 1983, is currently being revamped into a huge residential complex.

C W Fields & Son Ltd, based at Station Road, Epworth, has secured a £1.2m contract to install entrance door sets, cupboard doors, internal and external flat entrance lining panels and communal door sets.

The work is due to be completed between October and August next year as part of the first phase of the revamp to apartment blocks A, C, E and G.

Nigel Fields, commercial director for C W Fields, said: “We are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious British landmark, and believe our skills and expertise are well matched to deliver the standard of work required for a project of this calibre.”

John Cowx, operations manager, added that the company was “proud to announce” the securement of such a “major project.”

The derelict site was purchased for £400m in 2012 by a consortium of Malaysian investors, comprising of developers SP Setia and Sime Darby plus the Employees Provident Fund pension fund.

The wider £8bn redevelopment is set to include 3400 new homes, a shopping centre, hotels, offices and an arts space.

The announcement of the scheme ended more than 25 years of uncertainty over the site, which had remained vacant as previous developers had failed to get their plans off the ground.

Most recently, Chelsea Football Club was unsuccessful in its bid to turn the power station into a 60,000 capacity stadium.
