Scores of youngsters join councillors to help clean up Doncaster park
Youngsters and their families joined forces with Scouts and newly-elected councillors to help spruce up one of Doncaster’s most popular parks.
An army of volunteers armed with plastic bags, litter pickers and gloves descended on Sandall Park at the weekend to help clean up piles of rubbish left behind by visitors.
Organised by Friends of Sandall Park’s Head Junior Ranger Emma Pickering in conjunction with Doncaster council it was to contribute towards the Great British Spring Clean, a nationwide initiative aimed at tidying up Britain’s green spaces.
Said Sandra Crabtree of Friends of Sandall Park: “These youngsters and their families turned out on a rainy day to litter pick the park. Amazing turnout.”
The 71st Doncaster Hunafa Scout Group attended too, along with two newly elected Labour councillors Coun Daniel Barwell and Coun Emma Muddiman-Rawlins, who both took up their seats on Doncaster Council at the recent May local elections.
