Doncaster woman uses passion for wildlife to raise money for charity

Chloe Warren has always cared about the environment but during the lockdown, she thought she could use the spare time to fundraise for charities she supports.

The 22-year-old from Intake has just finished her university course in Zoology and has a job as an ecologist but it has been put on hold due to Covid-19.

Chloe said: “At the start of lockdown people really seemed to care about the environment.

“I kept seeing posts about dolphins returning to rivers on social media which was great.

“But unfortunately it feels like everyone has forgotten about it now.

“People are going back to work and using their cars.”

Chloe doesn't want the environment to take a back seat in people's minds and wants to encourage others to adopt eco-friendly habits into their lives.

“Try to use less plastic if possible or just walk when you can,” she said.

Chloe decided to do something to raise money for charities such as the Wildlife Trust and Save the Bees.

She has been creating small felt animals and selling them on her Instagram.

£1 of every sale goes towards charity.

Chloe said: “My love of animals started when I was young.

“I grew up in Dorset on a farm surrounded by cows and sheep.

“I’ve loved making the felt animals during the lockdown.

“It’s given me something positive to do which keeps me busy.”

Chloe has been making all sorts of animals such as guinea pigs, dogs, and cats.

She takes commissions so that pet owners can get a replica of their furry friends.

Her animal creations are between £4-7 dependent on materials used.

“It’s great to see the reactions of pet owners when they get their felt animals,” she said.

“I love seeing their smiles and being able to raise money for charity.”
