Lorry overturns and car skids into tree as ice causes Doncaster road chaos
A lorry overturned and went into a field and car skidded and crashed into a tree as ice caused early morning chaos in Doncaster.
Emergency services were called to a number of incidents as black ice caused problems for early morning drivers.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to Moss Road, Askern shortly before 8am after a lorry overturned and ended up in a neaby field.
A SYFR spokesperson said: “The call was received at 7.54am and two fire engines are still at the scene awaiting the arrival of a specialist recovery team.
“One fire engine, which was initially responding to this incident, came across a collision on Woodfield Road, Campsall where a car had collided into a tree.
"This was approximately at 8.24am which they also dealt with.”
“These were two of several road traffic accidents on this stretch of road this morning due to black ice.”
Earlier a spokesperson said: “Please take extra care, or avoid the area completely.”
