Fieldside, Thorne, Doncaster: Person dies & four treated for smoke inhalation after late night house fire
A person has sadly died after a house fire broke out shortly before midnight yesterday.
Firefighters attended the fire at a domestic property on Fieldside, Thorne just before midnight on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
A person lost his life in the blaze, a South Yorkshire and Rescue spokesperson confirmed this morning (Sunday, November 30, 2025).
They continued: “Five fire engines and a turntable ladder fought the blaze, leaving the scene at around 4am.
“Four people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and one person sadly lost his life.
“An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin today.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who died.”
Please note: The initial statement released by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue stated a man died in the fire. SYFR has now requested an alteration, stating the gender of the person killed in the fire has not yet been determined.
