The percentage of students achieving the highest grade of A* has leapt in Doncaster by 2.2%, rising to 7.7% and closer to national figures at 8.2%.

The number of students achieving grade A and above has moved up by almost 0.6% to 18.6%. This remains below the national average currently.

Mayor Ros Jones said: “I am very pleased for the students and schools who have achieved such great results, and want to congratulate them for their hard work over the last couple of years. I’m very glad your efforts have paid off.

“This is particularly encouraging following the recent positive Ofsted report on our support for schools, which praised our productive working relationships with academies and schools and this is now starting to translate into positive results.

“There is still more work to do, but this is an excellent result and we must keep working together to stay moving in the right direction.”

Jo Moxon, Interim Director of Learning and Opportunities: Children and Young People, said: “As important as our good Ofsted inspection, these encouraging results emphasise that our work to drive up standards in schools has contributed to improved results for our young people, and I want to thank all Doncaster secondary academies for their cooperation.”
