Doncaster shoe shop customers boost city hospice funds

Customers have donated more than £18.000 across the country

Shoe shop customers in Doncaster have helped boost the city’s St John’s Hospice.

Shoppers at Pavers have donated £1,000 to the Balby-based hospice through the chain’s Pavers Foundation.

The Pavers Foundation supported 18 charities and organisations across the UK and Ireland.

Thanks to the generosity from Pavers customers, £1,000 has been donated to each of the causes its customers care about the most, from support groups to educational services.

As part of the Pavers Foundation Customer Causes initiative, customers were invited to nominate a local charity or community group in their nearest Pavers store, by completing a short nomination form.

Each store chose one customer cause to put forward to the Foundation Committee, who then went to a vote, with the top 18 causes becoming eligible for the donation.

The Pavers Foundation has been supporting charities and organisations since 2018, nominated by colleagues and the Paver family.

Customer Causes were introduced last year, to give customers the opportunity to nominate good causes making a difference in their local community. To date, the Pavers Foundation has awarded over £2.5 million in donations since its inception.

Tracey Gaughan nominated St John’s Hospice in the Doncaster Frenchgate store:

She said: “This hospice like so many others, care for local people and make a real difference to everyone they care for. They are the only provider of specialist palliative care in Doncaster.”
