Doncaster Royal Infirmary sealed off by police this morning amid emergency investigation

Part of Doncaster Royal Infirmary has been sealed off by police this morning due to an ongoing emergency incident.

Eyewitnesses have reported that the entrance to the hospital’s Accident and Emergency department in Armthorpe Road has been sealed off.

One member of the public said that cars and people were being turned away by security.

A spokesman for Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust said there was an ‘ongoing inquiry and added: “Please note, Gate 3 at the Trust are currently closed (Emergency Department and Outpatients) to everything other than urgent drop-offs and ambulances - pedestrian access is unaffected.

“You can still access these services, however please use either the hospital's main entrance at Gate 4, South Block entrance near Gate 6 or the entrance opposite the Women's and Children's Hospital at Gate 1 (and Fracture Clinic). If you are unsure where you are heading, ask a member of staff who will assist.”
