Doncaster Rovers: '˜We've seen how difficult it is to maintain a winning run' says Grant McCann
Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann refused to be too downhearted about his side suffering only their second defeat of the season but admitted they fell just short at Accrington Stanley.
A late goal from substitute Offrande Zanzala earned Accrington a 1-0 win at the Wham Stadium.
After four consecutive victories '“Â and seven unbeaten in the league '“Â McCann said the performance demonstrated just how tough it is to maintain a winning run in the third tier.
'It's always going to be difficult,' he said.
'The shift that the boys put in for the seven games that we were unbeaten was outstanding.
'We just came up a bit short against a team you have to give a lot of credit to. They're a good team Accrington and they're hard to play here.
'They've shown that over the nine games or so that they've been unbeaten themselves.
'They were like us coming into the game, only losing once, and they were tough to play against.
'But I thought we controlled large parts of the game without really threatening.
'That's disappointing because we have, over the ten or 11 games, we have shown how ruthless we are but it just fizzled out a bit.'
'No disrespect, we're in League One for a reason, all of us,' McCann added.
'If we were that good then we'd win every week.
'No team is going to do that. We'll all have our ups and downs.
'We want to have more ups and downs.'
